About Baby in the Bluegrass

Publishers

While the road was a little rocky with two miscarriages and difficulty conceiving, publishers Jackie and Bill Powell now revel in the joys that parenthood brings. They love the life they’ve built in Lexington with their two boys—Zach (2000) and Billy (2004). They count their advertising agency, Serif Group, as their third child and enjoy watching it grow with new business clients and the launch of "Baby in the Bluegrass", their first venture in publishing.

Life is crazy and fun in Kim Joyner’s world. She is the mother of 3 boys all under 5 years old. She and her husband Burton have lived in Lexington for almost 10 years, and are proud to raise their children in the heart of the Bluegrass. A former educator, Kim has taken an unpaid sabbatical from teaching to be the primary caretaker of her children Noah (2002), Samuel (2004), and Andrew (2006). She is currently taking graduate classes toward her Library Science certification. When her boys go to school, she also hopes to return to education as a Library Media Specialist. In the meantime, she enjoys life on the go as a “stay at home” mom who is, ironically, rarely home.

Megan Majors and her husband Marc feel that their life is complete and full of love with their two children Taylor (2002) and Will (2004). Megan originally is from Ohio but is proud to now consider Kentucky her home. After graduating from the University of Kentucky with her Masters in Education, she taught high school social studies in Scott County for three years before staying at home with her children. Megan enjoys reading, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
